Reflections on Self

"I have lived on the lip
of insanity, wanting to know reasons,
Knocking on a door. It opens.
I've been knocking from the inside!"

~ Rumi

I search for balance between logic and emotion.
Between the real and imagined.
Between words and images.
Between chaos and order.

I find joy in making others laugh.
I cry more than most.

Edginess and conformity, cynicism and gentleness are my ongoing battles.
The struggle fuels my art. Art fuels me.

A selective CV
I grew up near Montreal, Quebec. In my mid-20s I moved to SW British Columbia, where I have lived ever since. Except for five years in Nova Scotia, which is where most of my family still hangs out.

I changed the spelling of my name when I was 16.

I have a partial degree in graphic arts and full degree in journalism.

For 10 years I sang folk-rock-blues in bands, trios and duos. I've had lead roles in amateur musical theatre.

For 20 years I worked as a writer and editor in a multitude of print media positions.

Life-changing travel experiences so far include six months backpacking in South America and a three-month trip across Canada in a van with my partner and two very large dogs. We only used the TransCanada Highway once.
